Self-Portrait

Way back when my library was supposed to open in Oct. of 05, I hit on the brilliant idea of having staff members do "Pumpkin Portraits" to introduce themselves to the community. We ended up opening in Dec. '05 and did the "self-portraits" last year. This was mine. Please note the clove of garlic for the nose, sport equipment and favorite books.

Potato Farm Sunset

Potato Farm Sunset, originally uploaded by Corica, a gentleman from Escrick, York, in the UK, named Paul. Great photo!

This is near Dave's home village where we go in England. Found it on Flickr and just figured out how to post it to my blog. I've never seen Ryton look quite like this. I was amazed to find two postings that came up when I searched Flickr for Ryton-on-Dunsmore (not to be confused with Stretton-on-Dunsmore or Dunchurch).

Starting out

So, I don't know anything about how to do a blog but that's ok. I'm working to design a technology training program on using Web 2.0 for our library system. It's going to be called "8 in '08" and is loosely based on one done by the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenberg County.

Since most everyone else in MCDL will be starting from the same place, I'll try not to feel too stupid. (This could prove difficult). As I'm exploring similar training programs, it makes me realize just how little I know. But, that's ok. It's ok. (Just keep repeating that mantra and we'll all be just fine!)

Wow, just saved it as a draft and then couldn't figure out how to get back into edit it--just kept opening and closing it. I hope that I won't spend the whole time feeling this stupid!

Exposing my mistakes to others is a bit hair-raising. It's like being back in Jr. High. I hope those of you who do follow me on this training appreciate my sacrifices! The worst part is I kind of think of myself as somewhat technologically savvy--I can text, download books to my MP3, use iTunes, email, etc., etc., etc.

Oh well, life is a daring adventure or nothing at all!
